96% of our public school districts are classified as “small rural”
“no state has a higher percentage of rural schools or small rural districts” (Showalter, et al., 2017, p. 138)

Only 51 have more than 500 students
More than 50% have fewer than 100 students
92 schools have only one teacher
65 schools are considered “one room school houses”
Last year, 83% of teacher vacancies were in rural schools

our STory

OUR STORY | We are in our 16th year of offering a statewide, collaborative fair circuit and virtual institute with the Montana Tribal Colleges & MPSEOC. This team effort allows students to see what amazing college and career options are available after high school. This event also helps train students on the quality steps to take to achieve these higher education goals and also offers the helpful personnel to get them correct and accurate information. Mostly, this event starts the relationship building between students and professionals that is needed for long-term success. Join this annual fair circuit and the virtual institute to learn more about our Montana Tribal Colleges and how we can help students together!
